The Mara Salvatrucha From Los Angeles - 1817 Words
The Mara Salvatrucha originating from Los Angeles, California is one of the worldââ¬â¢s most renown gangs. The gang was established in Los Angeles in year 1980 by Salvadorian immigrants and war refugees. Salvadorians were migrating to the United States in hope and search for a better life, economically and socially. They came to a rude awakening of racism and isolation within society. These immigrants coming to a different country felt the need to group up and stick by each other helping one another knowing they were all on the same page. Eventually the immigrants feel to the easiest way of life given their circumstances, and fell into the gang life. These Salvadorian Los Angeles residents formed what is now known as Mara Salvatrucha also known as MS-13. Mara Salvatrucha was created by Salvadorians that fled their country because of a civil war. Essentially they were immigrants and refugees, being kids that grew up surrounded by violence. Due to these factors creating a gang was not something out of the norm for these kids, they were used to the violence. MS-13 is now considered the fastest-growing, most violent and least understood of the nation s street gangs in the United States of America.
